Your first lock activates the morning after setup — giving you tonight to get ready.
The default daily goal is 15 minutes of Bible reading + at least one prayer. Both must be completed before your locked apps become accessible.
Adjust your reading goal in Settings → Daily Goal. Options range from 10 to 60 minutes. The prayer step is core to the GirdUp commitment and cannot be removed.
Yes, a free GirdUp account is required. This syncs your streak, reading progress, and prayer journal across devices and ensures your data isn't lost if you reinstall.
Sign up with your email address or use Apple Sign In. We never share your data with third parties. See our Privacy Policy.
Yes. Your account syncs streak, reading history, and prayer journal across all devices signed into the same account. Just download GirdUp and sign in.
App locking is device-specific — you'll select which apps to lock on each device separately since different devices may have different apps installed.
WordKeeper immediately adjusts its tone and Scripture references based on your updated answers.
Your streak resets if you miss a day — but that's part of the accountability. God's mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). A broken streak is not a reason to quit.
The locked apps reactivate the following morning. Complete your reading and prayer to unlock them again.
GirdUp uses Apple's Screen Time API to block access to the specific apps you choose. Each morning GirdUp activates the lock. The apps remain inaccessible until you complete your Bible reading timer and prayer inside GirdUp.
Once both are done, GirdUp removes the block and your chosen apps are available for the rest of the day. The lock reactivates the following morning.
You can lock any app installed on your device. Popular choices include social media (Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, Snapchat), news apps, streaming services (YouTube, Netflix), browsers (Safari, Chrome), and games.
You cannot lock core system apps like Phone, Messages, or the App Store.
Changes made mid-day don't affect the current day's lock.
