What We Collect
- Account information. Your email address and a hashed password (handled by Firebase Authentication), or — if you sign in with Apple — an opaque Apple identifier and optionally a relayed email address.
- Profile you create during onboarding. Your chosen display name, why you're using GirdUp, the spiritual battles you selected, your faith stage, and your daily Bible-minutes goal.
- App usage you generate. Your prayer list items, daily reading streak, Bible reading minutes, and which days you've completed your routine.
- WordKeeper chat content. Messages you send to the WordKeeper AI assistant and the responses generated for you.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active WordKeeper subscription, your purchase identifier, and renewal/expiration dates (handled by RevenueCat and Apple).
- Diagnostic information. Anonymous error and performance logs from Firebase and Cloud Run, used only to keep the service working.
We do not collect contacts, photos, location, advertising identifiers, or device-level usage data. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
How We Use It
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To save your profile, prayer list, and streak so they survive across sessions and devices.
- To send your WordKeeper messages to Anthropic's Claude API and return its response to you.
- To verify your subscription status and grant or revoke access to paid features.
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not train AI models on your data.
Who We Share It With
We share only what each service needs to function:
We do not share your information with any third party other than the service providers listed above.
Where It's Stored
Data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States (nam5 multi-region). The app also stores some information locally on your device — display name, streak, prayer list, and profile answers — so the app works without a network connection.
Children
GirdUp is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at support@girdupapp.io and we'll delete it promptly.
Your Choices and Rights
- Edit your profile. Change your display name and goal at any time from the in-app Account screen.
- Delete your account. Account → Delete account permanently removes your Firebase Authentication record and your Firestore profile document. WordKeeper chat content sent to Anthropic is processed transiently and is not retained by us.
- Manage your subscription. Through the Apple Subscriptions screen on your device — Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
- Request your data or correction. Email us at support@girdupapp.io. Residents of California, the EU/UK, and other jurisdictions with privacy laws have additional rights (access, portability, deletion, objection) — we honor those rights for all users regardless of location.
Security
Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. Account data is protected by Firestore security rules so you can only read or write your own profile. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS. The Anthropic API key is stored in Google Cloud Secret Manager and is never shipped in the app binary.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, when changes are material, notify you in-app.
